MONTRÉAL, 9 January 2025 – The International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations (ICCAIA) announces Jan Pie, Secretary General of the Aerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), as the new Chair. Pie succeeds Eric Fanning, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). The Chairmanship rotates on a 2-year basis between ASD/Europe and AIA/US.
We are proud to highlight some of our key achievements over the last two years under Eric Fanning’s leadership and we thank him for his direction:
- The ICCAIA team, members and advisors actively engaged in key ICAO events (including the 80th anniversary of the Chicago Convention), ICAO panel discussions, and working groups, setting the stage for the next ICAO Assembly and contributing significantly to areas such as environmental sustainability, airworthiness, security, CNS/ATM, AAM, health, and facilitation.
- A strategic agreement was made to deepen engagement on issues related to the future workforce and women in aviation. Through the joint efforts of States and industry, significant progress has been made on the Global Aviation and Aerospace Skills Taskforce front.
- ICCAIA accepted a position on the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG) Board, strengthening its influence on sustainability efforts.
- We joined the International Aviation Climate Ambition Coalition.
- ICCAIA and Montreal International (MI) signed an agreement to fund a headquarters expansion, supported by Montreal, Quebec, and the Canadian Governments.
- The ICCAIA team doubled in size with the addition of three directors.
- We have also begun preparations for our inaugural in-person 2025 AGM and Conference, scheduled for March.
As ICCAIA continues its expansion, we look forward to a productive time ahead under the leadership of Jan Pie as Chair, with continued success, new members, new opportunities, and collaborations with the manufacturing and services sector, ICAO, and partners from the global aviation ecosystem. Mr. Pie has previously chaired ICCAIA during three terms.

ICCAIA is alternately chaired by the President and CEO of AIA and the Secretary General of ASD, exchanging position every two years. There are two vice-chairs, one permanent, and one which rotates among the chief executives of the remaining member associations.
