International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations Statement on International Civil Aviation Organization’s Council Aviation Recovery Task Force Report

Montréal – June 1, 2020 – Today, the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Council Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) released guidance on practices and procedures for air travel and the aviation industry as they plan for a return to fuller operations in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The International Coordinating Council of Aerospace industries Associations (ICCAIA), representing the global aerospace manufacturing community, released the following statement, welcoming the CART report as an excellent first step toward the recovery of aviation operations:

“The CART report provides a strong, unified global blueprint for bolstering consumer confidence in the safety of flight as more aircraft return to the skies in the coming days and months. Global aerospace manufacturers of all sizes stand ready to work with ICAO, world governments, and the entire aviation ecosystem to implement the report’s recommendations and measures to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the flying community. The safety of passengers, aviation workers, and the general public has always been the priority of air transportation, and the lessons learned through this crisis must be used to ensure the strength and resilience of the aviation system moving forward.”

The International Coordinating Council of Aerospace Industries Associations (ICCAIA) is the international organization of aerospace industry associations. Their members are engaged in the design, development, manufacture and in-service support of aeronautical and space products and technologies, including related ground-based systems.

Members include: AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA), Aerospace Industries Association of Brazil (AIAB), Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies (SJAC), and the Union of Aviation Industrialists of Russia (UAI).

Today ICCAIA provides an avenue for the world’s aerospace manufacturers to offer their industry expertise to the development of the international standards and regulations necessary for the safety and security of air transport. Recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with observer status, ICCAIA actively participates in the work of ICAO regarding the environment, air navigation and air transport matters. ICCAIA also interacts with such regulatory authorities as the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the United States’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
